HERIOT WATT SPORTS ACADEMY The Academy is a joint venture between Heriot-Watt University and Heart of Midlothian FC.The Miller Partnership led a competition winning team to design this groundbreaking facility in 2001 and the facility was opened in May 2004. The Academy – only the second in Scotland – has an indoor astrodome with a 60 x 40m synthetic pitch, a Sports Science Centre, physiotherapy and rehabilitation suite, a gym, dressing rooms, a cafeteria and offices. Outside there are six full size pitches, two of which are floodlit, a goalkeepers’ training area and jogging track.
