KC STADIUM HULL

Client : Hull City Council
Capacity : 25,000
Opened : December 2002

In 1999 The Miller Partnership was commissioned by Hull City Council to master plan the City’s West Park, a formal Victorian park close to the City Centre.

This included a new 25,000 seater stadium, a 12 court Sports Hall and all weather facilities. Completed in 2003, the stadium embraced all aspects of the community, providing not only the central venue for the city’s senior professional rugby, soccer and basketball teams, but extended learning facilities through a partnership with Hull College.

Set within Westpark, the stadium and arena complex has provided a strong catalyst in the regeneration of the Victorian Park and the surrounding area. The project has also gone on to win a string of prestigious national awards.

The practice was again commissioned in 2004 to carry out a study to explore the options to extend the stadium to accommodate up to 35,000 spectators. The commitment from both, clubs and council have been instrumental in the benchmarking of the project as a prime example of partnership and regeneration.
