LEWS CASTLE, STORNOWAY

This project, which was won in competition, was the first unit of the new University of the Highlands & Islands, and was completed in 2000.

Facilities include new Library & Resource Centre, Lecture Theatre, Student Union, Accommodation, Classrooms, Refectory and Workshops.

The concept behind the University of the Highlands & Islands was to link rural communities through a number of satellite locations using a unique broadband network.
