NATIONAL STADIUM, TA’QALI, MALTA

Some 4 years ago the Practice was asked to visit the island of Malta and liaise with the Malta FA over the development of the National Stadium.

Concept Designs were developed for a new Millennium Stand and over the last 18 months work has been progressing on site. The new facilities were formally opened on 3 September and the Practice was represented by Duncan MacLean at a formal inauguration ceremony carried out by Professor Guido De Marco, the President of Malta.

The ceremony was followed by a football match between a Malta XI and Inter Milan. The new Millennium stand contains seating for 5,200 spectators, boxes, hospitality areas, a sports fitness centre, a 25 metre swimming pool and a basement car park for over 90 cars.

The new facility is set to become a major social and sports centre for the island.
